Programs

In addition to the classic fall, spring, and summer program models, the NC State European Center offers alternative programs, such as summer internships. All courses are NC State credits.

Fall Programs

Fall Classic Program

A semester-long program where students earn at least 12 credit hours. European instructors teach courses and combine classroom instruction and field trips to enhance the content, using the city of Prague as an alternative classroom.

Fall Prague Connect Program

A highly structured, twelve-week-long program designed specifically for incoming first-year students admitted to NC State as “Spring Connect.” Students will earn NC State credits, using the city and NC State Prague as their classrooms.

Spring Classic Program

The Spring Classic Program is a semester-long program in which students take at least 12 NC State credits. An immersive survival language course, cultural excursions, and in-country and out-of-country excursions are included.

Global Leadership Minor

The interdisciplinary minor is designed to give students a competitive edge in the global workforce. Students will earn 12 credit hours abroad towards a minor in 10 weeks. The nomadic program has modules in the Czech Republic and two other European locations.

Summer Session ONE Programs

Summer Classic Program

A six-week-long summer program where students select two or more courses. European instructors teach courses and combine classroom instruction and field trips that enhance the content by using the city of Prague as an alternative classroom.

Summer E101 Program: Introduction to Engineering and Problem-Solving

A six-week-long program where students enroll in E 101, taught by an NC State faculty member, plus one additional course from the Classic Program options.

Summer Internship Program

A seven-week-long summer internship in Prague, where students earn six NC State credit hours while gaining practical, real-world experience in a global setting.

Summer SESSION TWO Programs

Civil Engineering

The Prague study abroad program lets Civil Engineering students complete CE 305 and CE 332 through immersive classes and site visits. Students gain international experience in both academics and engineering practice.

Global One Health Applications

The Prague program uses a One Health approach to examine the links between human, animal, and environmental health through hands-on learning. It also includes cultural exploration of the Czech Republic to deepen understanding of global health issues.

Plagues, History, and Public Health

This program examines the history and societal impact of plagues in Prague, combining site visits, lectures, and primary sources. Participants gain insight into how epidemics have shaped public health and the urban environment.

Shakespeare in Performance

The Shakespeare in Performance program offers students academic study and hands-on experience with global theatre practices in Prague. Participants attend live performances and interact with theatre professionals to explore staging and performance methods.
