Living and working in the Czech Republic, Štěpánka Stein focuses namely on subjective documentary photography as well as fashion, design and architectural photography. Her past projects include conceptual series exhibited in public space (Beauty Fashion, Mimolimit / ExtraLimit, Space Cowboys), in 2005 they finished a Prague Municipality grant on Karlín, the city quarter devastated most heavily by the unprecedented floods in 2002. Her work was selected by Taschen, the renowned German publishing firm, for its publication titled Best Portfolios (2005). 2005 received a stipendium from the University of Sunderland for project Changing Faces. In the year 2006 published a book on the National Theatre. 2008 had a major solo exhibition in Prague and 2010 exhibition at the Czech Center in Paris. Since 2008, she has been teaching in Department of photography in Film Academy FAMU, since 2018 she become teaching in Academy of applied arts in Prague in the new department of photography. She has been working for fashion a lifestyle magazine in Prague such as Elle, Harpers Bazar or Vogue
