Jakub Rákosník works as an associate professor at the Institute of the Economic and Social History (Faculty of Arts – Charles University) and the Department of Economic Studies (University of Jan Amos Komenský – Prague). He received aPh.D. in Economic and social history (2004), and then in Legal theory and history (2012). He is a specialist in modern social history. His research has been concentrated mainly upon the development of welfare states, economic cycles, and the history of the working class movement. Among his publications are five monographs and more than fifty scientific articles published in his country as well as abroad.
