Bio

Andrea Tachezy received a Master’s degree in 1994 at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design – UMPRUM, where she studied textile design and film and TV graphics.

She is a member of the Association of Czech Graphic Artists HOLLAR Prague and works as a freelance illustrator. Between 2004 and 2011, she was a senior lecturer in textile design at the University of Hradec Králové and the University of Liberec between 2005 and 2006. Since 1994 she has exhibited her works in the Czech Republic and abroad.

In the year 2000, she received a Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture Czech Republic in the Egon Schiele Center in Český Krumlov, and another two years later for graphic artists at Oberpfalzer Kunstlerhaus Schwandorf-Cronenberg.

These days she occupies herself with illustrating children’s books. She has illustrated over twenty books, winning awards from the Czech publishers Albatros and Mladá Fronta in 2008, 2011, and 2012.

Her book Ferdinande! The Czech section of IBBY awarded it.
