GEP: Interdisciplinary Perspectives

*E 102 is open to all students, first year engineering students will be prioritized.

Course Description

This interdisciplinary perspectives course will provide an overview of the role of the National Academy of Engineering as well as the fourteen engineering grand challenges of the 21st century and their relationships to all of the separate engineering disciplines in the College of Engineering. Traditional classroom lectures will be minimized, as we will take an opportunity to explore engineering disciplines and engineering grand challenges in and around Prague. The majority of the course grade will involve participation in group excursions and discussion involving the critical self-reflections of these experiences. Students will gain an appreciation for the methods in which engineers, in each discipline, acquire knowledge and design tools or interdisciplinary solutions essential to meet society’s future needs.
