Course Description

This course is focused on the visual and artistic work with sketches and drawings on their utilization in a poster and collection of illustrations. The poster should present some interesting and famous Prague houses and the illustrations will be based on Czech fairy tales. Students will make a research, to find an object of their interest. Each student will keep a visual diary. Through word lists and thumbnail, sketches, and photographs, students will expand their ideas to improve their work.

Learning Outcomes

  • find own, individual creative way of drawing and stylization
  • work with line, shape, color, and composition in the harmonic or expressive way, depended on the concept
  • find the optimal approach how to express own ideas

Course Structure

Students will find the best artistic way, how to express their ideas. They will examine and select an artistic technique (pencil, pen and ink, watercolor, collage, marker) suitable for processing ideas. Realistic drawing or stylization, both are acceptable. The object is to use drawings as an understandable, disclosing element. Important is the concept, work with composition, and the use of the power of colored or black and white illustration.
